Although we’ve already heard that users in select markets have already started getting the Gingerbread update for their Galaxy Tab units, Samsung now made the update officially official. And it’s not just their tablet that will get the Android 2.3 love, other Sammy smartphones will get the same treatment as well. Namely we’re talking about the whole Galaxy smartphone range, including the original Galaxy S, Ace, Gio, Fit and mini.
The update will improve performance, making sure multimedia content consumption is more battery friendly, while also adding “powerful 3D graphics” for “enhanced mobile gaming experience.” In addition, usability improvements are also mentioned, including the improved Copy/Paste functionality.
In terms of availability, Gingerbread update will start with Galaxy S in the UK and Nordic countries from mid-May, and gradually rolled out to other European markets, North America, Southeast Asia, the Middle East Asia, Africa and rest of the world according to the regional plan. In order to upgrade their devices, users will have to download Samsung Kies software.
